For businesses that export or plan to expand abroad, trademark and design protection needs to be extended beyond borders. Protection is country-based; a registration in Türkiye is not valid abroad. Instead of filing separately in each country, international systems let you request protection in many countries with a single application, a single language and a single fee.
Madrid System (trademark)
The Madrid System is the international trademark registration system administered through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). An international application is filed for the member countries you choose, based on your trademark application or registration in Türkiye. Each country designated in the application carries out its own examination under its own legislation.
Hague System (design)
The Hague System is the system used for the international registration of industrial designs. With a single international application, protection can be requested for multiple designs and multiple countries/regions. For the Office’s relevant notices in our Knowledge Base .
